  • DHA

One of the essential omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, DHA or docosahexaenoic acid makes up the majority of the fatty acids in the brain. It plays a key role in optimal processing of nerve signals throughout the body and especially in the brain. Important for fetal growth and brain development during pregnancy, it also positively impacts brain health and eye health and works as an anti-inflammatory.* Simply put, DHA is most important in roles from the neck up. DHA is readily available in fatty fish and some varieties of sea algae as well as in eggs and dairy that are fortified with it.

  • EPA

EPA or eicosapentaenoic acid is another essential omega-3 fatty acid in fish oil. This "whole body" anti-inflammatory works by making chemicals that combat inflammation. It also plays a role in maintaining the brain's gray matter with aging as well as promoting positive mood.* As with DHA, EPA is readily available in fatty fish and some varieties of sea algae as well as in eggs and dairy that are fortified with it.

  • Lemon Oil

Besides providing a light lemon taste to those who have the tendency to burp with fish oil, lemon oil is a healthy addition. Not only is lemon anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and purifying, this oil is beneficial for mood and skin health.*

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fishy smell or taste?

No. In fact, we include lemon oil in the softgels to provide a light lemon taste.

Does Nutriex Omega-3 Fish Oil contain algae-derived omega-3s?

No, because algae-derived omega-3s tend to be much less concentrated and contain very little EPA. Nutriex Omega-3 Fish Oil contains high levels of the omega-3s EPA and DHA (700 mg EPA and 500 mg DHA in 2 softgels.

How does Nutriex verify that its fish oil is safe?

Nutriex Omega-3 Fish Oil comes from wild Alaskan pollock, naturally low in contaminants and heavy metals. As an added precaution, it undergoes a molecular distillation process that removes any heavy metals (lead, mercury, etc.) and man-made pollutants (PCBs, pesticides, etc.) that may be present. It meets or exceeds global industry standards as well as complies with even the strictest voluntary industry manufacturing standards established by the CRN (Council for Responsible Nutrition). It is safe for all populations, including pregnant women and children.

Why are the Omega 3 Fish Oil softgels smaller than they used to be?

Nutriex Omega-3 Fish Oil is now more concentrated, providing the same high level of omega-3s in a smaller softgel. Note that Nutriex Fish Oil contains more omega-3’s than almost any other brand.

How many servings are in a bottle of Omega-3 Fish Oil?

Even though it’s safe to take two at a time, we recommend one in the morning and another in the evening. If you take 2 a day, a 60-ct bottle provides 30 servings; the 120-ct bottle provides 60 servings.

How should I store my bottles of fish oil? Is it OK to put it in the refrigerator?

We recommend storing it in a cool cupboard, away from heat and humidity. Keep the lid tightly closed. It is OK to keep it in the refrigerator, but not necessary.

Where does fish oil come from, and how does it compare to krill oil?

Nutriex Omega-3 Fish Oil comes from wild Alaskan pollock, which is a sustainably managed and responsibly harvested species. Krill oil comes from small, shrimp-like marine animals, and possesses a very shrimp-like smell and taste. Krill oil tends to be much less concentrated than Nutriex Omega-3 Fish Oil and more expensive. Some companies tout krill oil because of the antioxidant astaxanthin contained in it. Though astaxanthin occurs naturally in krill and other fish, astaxanthin is commonly added to increase the levels to as much as 2.5 mg (a high level of astaxanthin, but a very low level of overall antioxidants). Instead of paying a premium for a krill oil product, we recommend supplementing Omega-3 Fish Oil with Nutriex Sport, Health, or Basic products to obtain far higher levels of both omega-3s and antioxidants.

“I’ve been adding 2 Nutriex Omega’s to the 3 Nutriex Sport capsules that I use every morning. Eye comfort is my main advantage. My nostrils feel a little better (less dryness). The skin on the top of my hands seems fuller. My hair is not affected one way or another.”

  • Tyler G

"My eye doctor suggested I try Omega 3 fish oil instead of a prescription eye drop. I tried a couple of different ones and didn’t like them, fishy burp. A friend gave me a bottle of Nutriex Omega-3 Fish Oil. I was a little skeptical but you know what it works great and no fishy burp!"

  • Barbara C

"When I swapped my prescription eye drops for Nutriex Omega 3 / Fish Oil the dry gritty sensations improved in about a week. Since then I’ve found out that steroid drops are not a good idea even risky for glaucoma. I’m waiting to see if my skin improves… too early to see."
