  • Pumpkin seed protein

Containing all 9 of the essential amino acids, pumpkin seed protein is an excellent if a bit uncommon protein source. Not only does it impart a subtle nutty taste, it also contains much higher levels of iron, potassium, zinc, and magnesium than most protein powders. Pumpkin seed protein also contains phenols, flavonoids, tannins, and tocopherols, all of which are natural antioxidants. The oils from the seeds, however, are removed, which allows lower fat and calorie content.

  • Inulin

Inulin is a prebiotic fiber, a type of fiber that provides food for the good bacteria in the large intestine (colon). Because it is a soluble fiber, it dissolves and forms a gel that slows digestion, allowing more nutrients to be absorbed. The fiber allows you to feel fuller for a longer time and also aids in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.* Foods that contain inulin include garlic, onions, artichokes, dandelion greens, and sunchokes. It's also in chicory root, which is added to energy bars and snacks and is sometimes used as a coffee substitute.

  • Flaxseed powder

Flaxseed powder comes from ground flaxseeds. Containing both soluble and insoluble fiber, healthy omega-3 oils in the form of ALA, protein, and natural antioxidants, these nutrients are much better absorbed when ground, as the whole seeds tend to pass through the digestive system without breaking down. The fiber in flaxseed powder provides similar benefits to inulin, described above. Flaxseed powder is also the best source of lignans in the diet (7x that of sesame seeds); these lignans provide fuel for the good bacteria in the digestive tract. Beneficial for cardiovascular health, digestion, balanced blood sugar, skin health as well as eye health, flaxseed powder is a powerful component not often found in protein powders.

  • Bromelain

Bromelain is a natural anti-inflammatory that comes from pineapple. It is most concentrated in the stem of the plant, though small amounts are also present in fruit and juice. Bromelain also aids in the digestion of protein. Bromelain has been used for centuries, primarily in Central and South America, as a digestive aid, for muscle recovery after workouts, and for maintenance of healthy joints.*

  • Papain

Sourced from raw papaya, papain is an enzyme that makes it easier to break down and absorb protein. Papain, a natural anti-inflammatory, is often used by athletes to promote healthy training and recovery.*

  • Pea protein

Hypoallergenic and easier to digest than most proteins, pea protein comes from non-GMO Canadian yellow peas. Pea protein contains high levels of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) touted for optimizing exercise and building muscle.* Combining pea protein with rice protein provides all the essential amino acids - those that the body cannot produce on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Nutriex Proteins powder better than others?

First and foremost, Nutriex Proteins contains all plant-based protein sources. These provide increased levels of naturally-present beneficial nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, as well as higher fiber levels than animal-based proteins. This product is compatible with the growing number of people who have sensitivities, intolerances, or allergies to dairy, including whey. A side perk includes environmental benefits by reducing the use of land and water resources and creating fewer waste byproducts. The other three main differences are that Nutriex Proteins includes 1) digestive enzymes to allow easier digestion and utilization of the protein contained in it, 2) fiber from multiple sources, each with slightly different benefits, and 3) flax seed powder, to provide beneficial omega-3 fatty acids.

How do I use your neutral-flavored Proteins?

You can mix it into anything - smoothies, oatmeal, soups, pancakes or waffles, baked goods, and even mixed into almond milk, oat milk, or regular milk. Some people sprinkle it on their kids’ yogurt!

Why isn’t there whey protein in your protein powder?

We’ve seen a shift in philosophies about whether it is still one of the best protein sources. With regards to whey and dairy in general, we’re hearing more and more health advocates discourage its use. Many people also have allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances to dairy, so by removing the whey protein, we are able to offer a product that these people can consume. And, finally, we do believe in improving the sustainability of our planet and know that switching away from whey to plant-based protein sources is a step towards a better environment. The benefits of whey protein can be achieved with a blend of plant-based proteins. By combining multiple protein sources, we are able to strengthen the “weak areas” of whey as well as the other individual proteins to improve the overall protein/amino acid profile. Both rice and pea protein provide similar gains in strength and muscle mass when compared to whey protein. Nutriex Proteins provides an excellent balance of amino acids and significant quantities of BCAAs for maintenance of muscle. In addition, it provides substantially higher levels of the amino acids that promote energy availability for exercise.

When is the best time to use your protein powder if I want to increase muscle?

To optimize muscle building, take Nutriex Proteins within two hours after a workout.

Can Nutriex Proteins be used for weight reduction?

This is not a weight loss product. Nearly all of the calories come from the protein and fiber in Nutriex Proteins, without any added sweeteners, flavors, or colors. Those who are striving to lose weight can include Nutriex Proteins as part of their diet. Focus on generous servings of vegetables and fruits, moderate quantities of high-quality protein (whether animal or plant-based), and whole grains rather than refined (white) flour. Daily exercise is an important component in any weight loss program.
